Ice Thaw at the Lake - 9 Mar 2025

Here's Robot Butterfly by the lake just before the snow and ice began to thaw! The sky was beautiful that day, with the sun casting through the clouds and illuminating stripes on the expanse of the frozen lake.

At this point in time, the monarch butterflies are preparing to depart their overwintering location to begin the grand migration, with their descendants returning back to Canada for the summer.

The sunlight that day also made the wings sparkle ✨ For some photos I was laying on the snow. Well, it will be a year before that happens again, hopefully! Marching on to spring time mud 😃 🌷
